Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how DW Solutions AB (“Afloat”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Afloat maintenance application for boats, available on the web, desktop, and mobile.

1. Information we collect

We only collect the information needed to provide the service. This includes:

Account information

• Your name and email address
• An encrypted (hashed) password used to sign in
• The company or vessel your account is associated with

Content you create

• Boat, machine, and equipment details you enter
• Maintenance tasks, service intervals, and work logs
• Notes and documents or files you upload and attach to your boats or machines

Technical information

• Basic operational data needed to run the app securely, such as authentication tokens and server logs (for example error logs and request timestamps).

2. How we use your information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the Afloat service
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure
• To store and display the maintenance data and files you create
• To respond to support requests and communicate with you about the service
• To diagnose technical problems and improve reliability

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

As a Swedish company, we process personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legal bases are:

• Performance of a contract — to deliver the service you or your organisation have subscribed to.
• Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, and improve the service.
• Legal obligation — where we must retain certain records by law.

4. How your data is stored and protected

Your data is stored on secure servers within the European Union. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, connections are encrypted in transit, and access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel. While no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

5. Sharing and sub-processors

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with infrastructure providers who host the service on our behalf (for example, cloud hosting and storage), and only to the extent necessary to operate Afloat. These providers act as processors under written agreements and are bound to keep your data confidential. We may also disclose information where required by law.

6. Data retention

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you close your account, or on request, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or accounting purposes.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Sweden, the IMY)

8. Deleting your account and data

You can request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by emailing Daniel@dwsolutions.se from your registered address. We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days, subject to any legal retention requirements described above.

9. Children

Afloat is a professional tool intended for businesses and adult boat operators. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Continued use of Afloat after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
